I can’t believe I’m about to be a senior in college. How’s that saying go? Time flies when you’re studying for exams! Eh, close enough.
Since my internship ended, I’ve been playing video games, packing, and writing. A lot of that writing has been podcast reviews for Awful Announcing. They’re all listed below. I’ll be writing reviews periodically during the school year, so be on the lookout for those.
Speaking of podcast reviews, Big Red Sports Talk returns this Friday from 7:30-9:30 eastern on WDUB! I’m looking forward to a semester full of great guests and fun shows. If you can’t listen live, be sure to subscribe to show podcasts on iTunes and Stitcher.
Here are my podcast reviews, with a couple sentences about each show.
Eisen Extra – link
This is a condensed version of the nationally-syndicated Rich Eisen Show. It’s a good show, but it leans toward football talk a lot.
Open Floor – link
This is one of the best NBA podcasts I’ve heard. It’s entertaining and doesn’t take itself, or the Association, too seriously.
Pin/Kings – link
The sports version of Serial? It’s not perfect, but it’s an episodic retelling of a story you won’t believe, about two wrestling teammates who ended up on opposite sides of the war on drugs in Miami.
Baseball Tonight – link
It’s kind of boring, but the Scoreboard is a good recap for baseball fans. The regular podcast, however, is not as good.
Only a Game – link
NPR + sports = an amazing weekend show. It’s fascinating storytelling combined with thoughtful and thought-provoking discussions. I recommend it for anyone looking for more than just hot takes.
As always, thank you for following my work. NSF recently celebrated its fifth anniversary and I couldn’t have gotten this far without those around me. Whether it’s been support of my gradual improvements as a writer or disgust toward some of my sports opinions, it’s all greatly appreciated.
