I am a member of the Internet Baseball Writers Association of America (IBWAA), and with that membership comes some responsibility and some ballots for the IBWAA’s mock/unofficial elections. I was able to vote on every single award in both leagues, and my biases are made clear in some of the award categories. I believe the sample size for relief pitchers is so tiny that it is difficult to distinguish who is the best of the “good” relievers. For that reason, I decided to give Bryan Shaw and Scott Atchison some love. In the NL, I felt that Clayton Kershaw was in fact that good as he was my runaway MVP and Cy Young winner. For NL Rookie of the Year, I gave Billy Hamilton the edge because of the sample size, rather than the results; had Jacob deGrom made another few starts, he would have surpassed Hamilton on my ballot. If you have any other thoughts on my votes, feel free to comment below and/or tweet me. Below is an “image” version of my full ballot.
